Harris wins player-of-the-year award

Evangel volleyball player Brittni Harris (6-0, Sr., MB, Delray Beach, Fla.) has won the player-of-the-year award for the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Harris’ conference player-of-the-year honor is the first ever by a volleyball player at Evangel.

In addition, Julie O’Dell (6-0, So., MB/RS, Rogersville, Mo.) is a second team member and Lindy Barnes (5-4, Sr., DS, Fair Grove, Mo.) and Kristina Mooney (5-8, Jr., OH/DS, Rogersville, Mo.) are both honorable mention selections.

Harris led Evangel with averages of 4.1 kills and 1.5 blocks per game. She had a 37.5 kill percentage. Although she is a front row player, Harris also had 84 digs and served 13 aces.

O’Dell was Evangel’s second leading scorer, averaging 2.7 kills per game. She finished the season with a 21.1 kill percentage. O’Dell was also had the second most blocks. She averaged 1.1 per game. O’Dell totaled 45 digs.

Mooney led Evangel with 525 digs, a 94.1 serve receive percentage (49 errors, 837 attempts), and a 97.9 service percentage (11 errors, 530 attempts). Mooney also averaged 1.5 kills and had 17 aces.

Barnes totaled 483 digs - second most on the team - and had a 92.4 service receive percentage (55 errors, 725 attempts). She also had 21 service aces.
