Head Evangel coach Leon Neal has received a verbal commitment from Marion C. Early High School’s Kelsie Hargus to play on the 2007-08 Lady Crusader basketball team.
Hargus, a 5-foot-10 guard, was a first-team MBCA and AP all-state pick as a junior. She also won first team all-district honors and, after winning her third consecutive first team all-conference award, Hargus was named the conference MVP as a junior. In addition, Hargus won player of the week plaudits from Sports Talk Radio and the Springfield News-Leader.
Hargus averaged 20.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.9 steals per game as a junior. She made 45.0 percent of her 3-pointers (59-131) and 85.0 percent of her free throws (145-170).
