Osceola’s Jurgensmeyer Signs to Play with 2007-08 Lady Crusaders

Osceola (Mo.) High School senior Ashley Jurgensmeyer signed today to play on the 2007-08 Evangel University women’s basketball team.

Jurgensmeyer, a 6-foot-1 forward, averaged 21.2 points and 11.0 rebounds per game as a junior. She made 49.5 percent of her field goals and 73.0 percent of her free throws. Following her junior season, Jurgensmeyer won first team all-conference and first team all-area honors for the second year in a row and was a first team all-district selection. She was also selected as a member of the Appleton City and Osceola all-tournament teams.

Jurgensmeyer’s name is already in the Osceola season and career records book for steals (1st season and career), blocked shots (1st season and career), free throw percentage (1st season, 4th career), points (2nd season, 3rd career), rebounds (2nd season and career), assists (6th season and career), 2-point field goal percentage (3rd season, 4th career), and season points per game (2nd, 21.2, 2005-06).

Osceola finished with a 27-1 record in 2005-06, losing to Skyline High School in sectionals. Jurgensmeyer also participates on the Osceola volleyball, softball and track and field teams. As a volleyball player, Jurgensmeyer won all-state honors in 2005 and again as a senior in 2006. She won first team all-conference honors the past four seasons and first team all-district and all-region honors the past three campaigns. As a senior middle hitter, Jurgensmeyer finished with over 1000 career kills and led the 2006 Osceola volleyball team to the conference, district, and sectional championships. Osceola went on to finish third at the state tournament. Following the season, Jurgensmeyer was honored as the team’s MVP and offensive player of the year.

As a softball player, Jurgensmeyer won her team’s defensive player and top pitcher award the past two seasons. On the Osceola track and field team, Jurgensmeyer was a member of the 4x100 and 4x200 state relay teams and participated at state in the triple jump.
