Distinguished Service Award to be given to president's executive assistant

Springfield, Mo. — Carol Stair is being honored by the Evangel University Alumni Association with a 2007 Distinguished Service Award. She has served as the executive assistant to Evangel’s president, Dr. Robert H. Spence, for 26 years.

The award will be presented Friday, Oct. 12, during the Homecoming chapel service.

Stair started at Evangel as the Music Department secretary in September 1976. She moved up to the President’s Office in October 1981.

Stair coordinates and expedites all functions of the president’s office. Among her many and varied duties, Stair takes minutes of all executive meetings, including the Board of Administration and Board of Directors meetings. She also makes travel and lodging arrangements for the President — who travels extensively — and coordinates arrangements for the Board of Directors when they are in session.

“Carol has been the epitome of dependability and is incredibly fast and accurate in her office tasks,” said President Robert H. Spence. “She has the innate ability to anticipate needs and provide resources to address each situation at hand.”

Stair is married to Dr. David L. Stair, athletic director at Evangel. Their two children are graduates of Evangel, and they have five grandchildren.
