Woodwind Venture recital showcases faculty

Springfield, Mo. — A Woodwind Ventures faculty recital will be performed at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Barnett Recital Hall at Evangel University.

There is no charge for admission, and the public is invited to attend.

The program will showcase the talents of Evangel faculty Larry Bridges, flute; Linda Ligate, harpsichord and piano; Beth McLellan, clarinet; Sheri Slater, clarinet; Susan Smith, soprano; Jacque Trtan, cello; Matthew Warner, saxophone; and guest performer Naomi Benecasa, cello.

The repertoire includes:

• Handel’s “Sonata No. 6 in D minor,” performed by Warner, Benecasa and Ligate.
• Bach’s “Ich nehme mein Leiden mit Freuden auf mich,” performed by Smith, Bridges, Trtan and Ligate.
• Beethoven’s “Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 11,” performed by Ligate, McLellan, and Trtan.
• Lutoslawski’s “Dance Preludes for Clarinet and Piano,” performed by Slater and Ligate.
• Shostakovich’s “Waltzes for Flute, Clarinet, and Piano,” performed by Bridges, McLellan and Ligate.
• Muczynski’s “Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano,” performed by Warner and Ligate.
