Springfield, Mo. — Missouri Supreme Court Judge Mary Rhodes Russell will be speaking to students at Evangel University Monday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. in Zimmerman Hall, AB-105, and also at 11 a.m. in the lobby of the Social Sciences Department.

The 10 a.m. session is open to the public; however, seating is limited.

“We are very appreciative of the opportunity that Justice Russell is providing our students to meet and discuss current Missouri issues with a public servant of such an important position in the Missouri judiciary,” said Dr. Lew Hall, chair of the Social Sciences Department.

Judge Mary Rhodes Russell received two bachelor’s degrees, summa cum laude, in 1980 from Truman State University and her law degree in 1983 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She served as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Missouri before entering private practice in her hometown of Hannibal, where she became northeast Missouri’s first female law partner in 1987.

Judge Russell was appointed to the Missouri Court of Appeals in 1995 and served as its chief judge from 1999 to 2000. She was appointed to the Supreme Court of Missouri in September 2004.

A staunch supporter of mentoring efforts, Judge Russell is active in many civic and bar organizations.
