The Evangel volleyball team will host Graceland University on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. in Ashcroft Center in a quarterfinal game of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) tournament. Admission is free of charge to everyone.
Evangel (23-11, 7-3 HAAC) has been seeded second in the tournament and Graceland (16-15, 6-4) is the No. 7 seed. The two teams met in Ashcroft Center on Oct. 20 and Graceland won the match in four games. The game scores were 30-28, 23-30, 23-30, and 15-30.
The winner of the Evangel/Graceland match will face the winner of the William Jewell (No. 3)/Benedictine (No. 6) match on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the site of the higher seeded team. The matches in the top half of the bracket are Avila (No. 8) at Lindenwood (No. 1) and Central Methodist (No. 5) at Baker (No. 4). The winners of these matches will also play at the higher surviving seed on Nov. 7.
The conference championship game is on Saturday, Nov. 10 and the site is on the higher seeded team’s home floor. The winner and runner-up from the HAAC tournament and from the American Midwest Tournament will receive automatic bids to the 8-team NAIA Region V Tournament on Nov. 13, 16 and 17 at Columbia (Mo.) College. The remaining four at-large teams will be selected based on the Region V rankings.
