Springfield, Mo. — Freshman students from Evangel University’s Social Work program are sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Rare Breed, a downtown drop-in center for homeless teenagers.

From now through Nov. 16, canned and sealed foods will be collected in drop boxes located in each of the 10 academic departments as well as the student union.

The food drive is organized and planned by the social work freshman seminar class each year as a class project. This is the third year for the food drive.

“It’s a great learning opportunity for the students to get real life experience in developing a large scale project and seeing it through to completion,” said Donna Washburn, social work program field coordinator.
