Springfield, MO. — Evangel University Film Workshop students will present their original film, Better Than Real, at the university’s annual fall film festival at 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in room 105 of Zimmerman Hall.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $2.

The film, directed by Andrea Bonk, senior, and produced by Alyssa Rigden, junior, tells the story of Dana, a college coed adjusting to life at a new school. The conflict begins when Dana begins to have difficulty deciphering what is real and what is not.

“This is the first of our films that feature female lead characters, but is by no means a chick flick,” said Dr. Cameron Pace, communication department chair and executive producer for the film. “I think that it is a good mix of drama, comedy, and action.”

Better Than Real is the third film produced by Film Workshop students and stars Sarah Stubbs, junior, and Kelly Knight, sophomore.

The cast and crew, made up of students in the Film Workshop, created the film from start to finish in the areas of writing, directing, lighting, camera work, casting and audio effects. Better Than Real also features original music.

“People will go in expecting what they think they will see, but there is a twist,” said Andrea Bonk, director.

Evangel’s Film Workshop is a class offered biannually to communication majors and minors.
