Springfield, Mo. — Seven students are participating in Evangel’s 50th annual Washington (D.C.) Studies Program Jan. 21-Feb. 1. The program includes a week of seminars and a week of internships.

Dr. Bryan Sanders, professor of government and legal studies at Evangel, is accompanying them.

• During their first week at the capital, Jan. 21-25, the students are attending the National Association of Evangelicals Student Leadership Conference.

This conference will give the students the opportunity to attend briefings at both the State Department and White House. They will also attend a meeting on the floor of the House of Representatives on the day of the State of the Union Address, tour the White House and visit the Department of State’s Diplomatic Reception Rooms.

“The students are able to see the federal government in action and the interaction with people in Washington, D.C., gives them a real-life look at what happens,” said Sanders.

• During their second week, students will intern with a senator, congressional representative, or with a federal office, museum or national organization on Capitol Hill.

Evangel’s Washington Studies/Internship Program began in 1958. Besides attending the NAE conference and participating in a week-long internship, students must complete additional research and readings to earn the three class credits that the program offers.

The following students are participating this year:
