EU Wins Third Straight

The EU ladies traveled to Culver-Stockton on Jan. 26 and came home with a 62-51 win, their third in a row.

Ashley Luko scored a season-best 21 points. She made 6-of-8 of her field goals, including 3-of-5 shooting from the 3- point arc, made all six of her charity tosses, brought down a team-high seven rebounds and had three steals.. Brianna Mingus chipped in 15 points and
Tag Morris, although she just had two points, finished with five rebounds, five assists and a trio of steals.

The team stats were fairly even with the exception of free throws and turnovers. EU made 93.8 percent of its free throws (15-16) to Culver-Stockton’s 59.3 percent (16-27). Culver-Stockton led the turnovers, 20-13. In addition, Evangel’s bench outscored Culver’s bench, 18-6, and Culver’s last field goal came at the 7:02 mark of the second half.

MNU Defeats Lindenwood

The MNU defense was the key to a 66-55 victory over conference rival Lindenwood on Saturday, holding the Lady Lions to 33% from the field and blocking 11 shots. The Lady Pioneers were able to shoot 53% and were in control for most of the game. JoNel Henning led
MNU with 18 points on 7-13 shooting. Jenna Matson filled the stat sheet with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 blocks, and 3 assists. Bethany Rexroth and Ashley Patterson combined for 7 blocked shots as the Lady Pioneers dominated the paint. (From MNU’s website)

EU and MNU met three times in 2006-07. MNU won all three games. The Lady Pioneers won at home on Dec. 7 (74-41), at EU on Feb. 1 (71-59), and again at home in the first round of the league tourney on Feb. 27 (61-47).

Series Record

EU leads the series, 36-11, however, MNU has a current five-game winning streak vs. EU.

In Ashcroft Center, the Evangel women have a 19-4 series advantage. MNU stopped an 11-game EU winning streak on Feb. 19, 2004 (61-56). MNU has won three of the five games in Ashcroft since EU’s 11-game winning streak.
