Springfield, Mo. — Three Evangel University professors will be presenters at the third joint meeting of the Society for Pentecostal Studies and Wesleyan Theological Society. The meeting will be hosted by Duke University Divinity School in Durham, N.C., March 13-15.

Based on the theme, “Sighs, Signs, and Significance: Pentecostal and Wesleyan Explorations of Science and Creation,” the purpose of the meeting is to reflect theologically about creation and the world of science that deeply shapes every aspect of our lives.

Dr. Steve Badger, professor of chemistry, and Dr. Michael Tenneson, professor of biology, will be presenting “Teaching Origins to Pentecostal College Students and Measuring the Beliefs of Pentecostal Students About Origins.”

“This paper is part of an ongoing project that Dr. Badger and I have been working on for about six years,” Tenneson said. “We hope to develop new collaborative relationships with other professors at this conference.”

Dr. Jeff Hittenberger, professor of education, will be making two presentations, “The Future of Pentecostal Higher Education in the United States” and “Global Pentecostal Renaissance? Reflections on Pentecostalism, Higher Education and Culture.”

“I am delighted to be interacting at this conference with professors from around the world on issues of interest to all of us,” Hittenberger said.

Badger has been a faculty member at Evangel University since 2001. He holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi-Hattiesburg.

Tenneson has been a member of Evangel’s faculty since 1987. He holds a Ph.D. in science education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
