Evangel’s Kaylee Nelson, a senior catcher/second baseman, has been awarded player of the week honors by the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
Nelson led the Lady Crusaders’ offense at the University of West Florida Spring Fling Games in Pensacola on Mar. 3-6. She hit at a .421 pace (8-19), scored five runs and drove in one more run. In addition, Nelson stole three bases and was walked three times. She is from Edina, Minn.
The Lady Crusaders (6-6) will play next on Thursday, Mar. 13, at MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe, Kans. The conference doubleheader will begin at 3 p.m. Following their games at MidAmerica Nazarene, the Evangel women will host Benedictine on Saturday, Mar. 15, and Baker on Tuesday, Mar. 18, in conference doubleheaders. The Benedictine games will begin at 1 p.m. The first game versus Baker will start at 3 p.m.
