Eight students selected for All-Collegiate Choir

Springfield, Mo. — Eight Evangel University choral students were selected to sing in the prestigious All-Collegiate Choir at the 2008 convention of the Southwestern Division of the American Choral Directors Association. The convention was held in Kansas City, Mo., Feb. 20-23.

Sharon Wilkins, associate professor of music at Evangel, accompanied them.

They participated in workshops and rehearsals, culminating in a concert on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The All-Collegiate Choir comprises 300 students from colleges and universities in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

The Choir was directed by Dr. Eph Ehly, professor emeritus at the Conservatory of Music, University of Missouri-Kansas City. Ehly was director of choral activities at UMKC for 27 years and is a world-renowned conductor, author, lecturer and clinician.

The Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra provided accompaniment for the Choir’s performance.

The Evangel students who participated in the All-Collegiate Choir are:
