Evangel University Orchestra, Concert Orchestra and trumpet soloist featured in spring concertSpringfield, Mo. — The Evangel University Orchestra, Concert Orchestra and trumpet soloist Tim Wootton will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, in the University’s Chapel Auditorium.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The University Orchestra will perform Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto, featuring trumpet soloist Tim Wootton; Mendelssohn’s Overture to Elijah; the Finale from Sibelius’ Second Symphony; and selections from Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The Concert Orchestra will perform the William Tell Overture by Rossini and Hibernia by Michael W. Smith.
University Orchestra and Concert Orchestra are both conducted by Dr. Larry Dissmore.
Tim Wootton, adjunct professor of trumpet at Evangel, earned his master’s degree in trumpet performance at Arizona State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Missouri State University, where he was a student of Dr. Grant Peters. Wootton has been named a prizewinner in regional and international solo competitions and has performed in the United States and Thailand.
The 35-member Concert Orchestra, selected by audition, has toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. The Orchestra’s most recent tour to Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio was completed on March 10. Over the past 13 years, the Concert Orchestra has also recorded six compact discs.
