Springfield, Mo. — Winston K. Larry has been appointed to the position of U.S. Missions administrator for the General Council of the Assemblies of God and began fulfilling his job duties the first week of March.
"Winston Larry is a very conscientious and caring person," says Zollie Smith, director of U.S. Missions. "He realizes that above everything else God must be pleased first and that kind of prioritizing is what it takes to make a great servant of God. Winston is unequivocally a great servant of God and he proves it through serving others."
Before coming to U.S. Missions, Larry had served as senior pastor of New Covenant Assembly in Gary, Indiana, since 1991. He held many roles at the church prior to his assignment as senior pastor, including Christian Education director, deacon, board member, associate pastor and assistant pastor. New Covenant Assembly is also where, as a teen, Larry and his family had received salvation at in 1973.
For 12 years of his pastorship, Larry also worked full time as a clinical social worker/psychotherapist.
Previously Larry served two terms on the Assemblies of God Commission on Ethnicity. He also was the central regional director for the National Black Fellowship of the Assemblies of God.
Larry graduated from Evangel University in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He earned his D. Min (Counseling Psychology) from Logos Graduate School in Jacksonville, Florida.
Larry and his wife Marilyn, who is also a licensed Assemblies of God minister, have two sons, Christopher and Joshua.
