Campus radio station hosts battle of the bands concert

Springfield, Mo. — “Amplified ’08,” a battle of the bands, will be held at Evangel University Friday, April, 4. The concert will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Mabee Center on Evangel’s campus.

Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.

“Amplified ’08” is sponsored by Evangel University Student Media. Staff members of the campus radio station, KECC 98.1 “The Buzz,” will serve as judges, and the winner will be announced immediately after the concert.

First prize will be $500 and a recording session in the Ephraim Media Center Recording Studio, which includes a multi-track recorder, a 32-channel mixer, effects generator and Pro Tools, among other professional equipment.

Bands wishing to compete can get an application at www.crusadermedia.com/amplified. The completed application must be submitted to the KECC office by March 21, along with a $10 entry fee and the lyrics for the two songs they wish to play.

Prior to the concert, “blow up” games such as boxing and sumo wrestling will be available for enjoyment, as well as free food from local restaurants.

More than $1,000 worth of prizes, including a LCD flat screen television, will be given away.
