Springfield, Mo. — Two Evangel University students won awards for their research papers presented at the Great Plains Regional Psychology Convention at Emporia State University, Emporia, Kan., March 14-15.

Priscilla Yokomizo, senior psychology major from Englewood, Colo., presented her study of a strengths-based classroom intervention. She won second place in her division.

Jaimée Allman, first year graduate student from Independence, Mo., presented a review of forgiveness, resilience and anger in victims of violent crime. She won second place in competition against other graduate students.

“Seeing our students present their research is always a rewarding experience,” said Dr. Geoff Sutton, associate professor of psychology at Evangel University. “It’s even better when their work is recognized by judges from other schools.”

Other Evangel students attended the conference as part of a career exploration opportunity funded in part by LifeWorks. Dr. Grant Jones, Evangel psychology coordinator, also attended the conference and served as a competition judge.
