The Evangel University football team will play an 11-game schedule in 2008. The season opener is one of five home games in JFK Stadium and will feature the Crusaders vs. William Jewell on Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. The four other home games are on Sept. 27 (Missouri Valley, 6 p.m.), Oct. 11 (Avila, homecoming, 1:30 p.m.), Oct. 25 (Culver-Stockton, 1:30 p.m.) and Nov. 8 (Benedictine, 1:30).
Ten of the 11 games on the 2008 schedule are Heart of America Athletic Conference contests. The Crusaders have filled their open date with a trip to non-conference opponent Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri-Rolla) on Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in Rolla. Evangel and Missouri University S&T haven’t played since the 1987 season.
The 2008 Evangel football team will be led by Scott Metcalf, who begins his seventh year as head coach.
