Springfield, Mo. — Dr. Eliezer Oyola, professor of Spanish at Evangel University, has been named to the Special Editorial Board of “Ethos Gubernamental,” a journal published annually by the Office of Government Ethics of the State of Puerto Rico.
As a member of the editorial board, Oyola will edit, evaluate and recommend manuscripts for publication, as well as search for future contributors and topics of research.
“The main objective of the journal is to gather and disseminate information related to the workings of democratic governments worldwide,” Oyola said. The editorial board believes “it is the responsibility of local, regional, national and global leaders to seek, maintain and value the trust of the people they govern.”
Oyola will be working alongside a former student of his, Jesus Nieves Mitaynez, a 1979 Evangel graduate who majored in philosophy and Spanish.
An article by Oyola, “Culture, Identity, Coexistence and the Literary Imagination,” will be published in this year’s issue of the publication, due in May.
Oyola holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. He has taught Spanish at Evangel since 1976.
