Springfield, Mo. — Evangel University and Regent University have entered into an articulation agreement, which will result in significant financial savings for Evangel graduate students.
The administrators of the Regent School of Psychology & Counseling have agreed to offer “advanced standing” to graduates of Evangel’s master of science in clinical or counseling psychology programs.
“In recognition of the quality of our program, Regent will now accept 39 hours of our graduate level coursework toward their doctoral program in clinical psychology (Psy.D.),” said Dr. Grant Jones, professor of psychology at Evangel.
“In addition, Regent will extend a 10 percent tuition discount for the remainder of the program,” he added. ”Together, this will result in a significant financial benefit for our graduates.”
This articulation agreement is the first that Regent’s Psy.D. program has approved with any university, according to Dr. Jeff Hittenberger, professor of education and director of graduate studies at Evangel.
“We are pleased to be able to offer this benefit to our graduates,” said Hittenberger. “Regent’s Psy.D. program is well-respected and is accredited through the American Psychological Association.”
Students accepted with advanced standing must have obtained at least a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) at Evangel in all waived graduate courses, and they must meet Regent’s criteria for clinical interviewing, intelligence testing, psychopathology and personality assessment.
According to the agreement, “Each student granted advanced standing...is responsible to possess the knowledge and skills inculcated through the waived Regent courses.”
Evangel University is the national Assemblies of God college of arts, sciences and professions located in Springfield, Mo. Evangel enrolls nearly 2,000 students from all 50 states and abroad in more than 100 undergrad and eight master’s programs.
