Springfield, Mo. — Six Evangel University students are studying in France and Belgium this summer.
Dr. Robert Turnbull and his wife, Charlotte, are directing the trip. Turnbull is professor of French and chairman of the Department of Humanities at Evangel.
The Summer Overseas Studies program is offered biennially to students who want to study the French culture and society. Three hours of credit are earned when the students successfully complete the coursework.
Excursions include visits to Paris, Versailles, Chartres, Normandy, Bordeaux, Brussels, Bruges, Ghent and Villiers-Sur-Ville. The students will have opportunities to visit numerous historical sites including castles, monasteries, museums, cathedrals, cemeteries, a WWII concentration camp and D-Day beaches.
Methods of learning include the formal classroom setting as well as immersion into the culture through practical activities such as traveling on public transportation, conversing with the French people and worshiping in a local church.
