SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel librarian Woodvall Moore will be honored with a Distinguished Service Award on Friday, October 10, 2008, during Evangel’s homecoming celebration.
Known as “Woodie” to friends, he has been a fixture in Evangel’s library since 1976. Starting as reference librarian, he was promoted to director within one year. His current title, director of library and media services, reflects the changes in his role that have taken place over the years.
“Woodie has served the Evangel University community well during his 32-year tenure,” said Dr. Glenn Bernet, vice president for academic affairs.
“He has successfully led the Evangel library through a period of rapid technology-induced change in the way library materials are maintained and accessed, and he has been careful to keep the focus on service to students and faculty as libraries have embraced the new technologies.” Bernet said.
Moore earned a Bachelor of Science from Southern Bible College (now Messenger College) and a Master of Library Science from the University of Kentucky. He is a past president of the Association of Christian Librarians.
An ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, he has served as a chaplain for the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Photography is one of Moore’s hobbies, and he leads a “brown bag” workshop for faculty and staff each year. He also enjoys amateur radio and is certified as a member of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service.
