SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Evangel professor Alina Lehnert was presented the StrengthsQuest Architect Award during the Gallup Organization’s “Building a Strengths-Based Campus” conference, which was held in Omaha, Neb., at the organization’s headquarters.
Faculty and staff members from universities nationwide attended the conference to learn ways to maximize strengths and talents in academics, career roles and relationships.
Lehnert received the award in recognition for her leadership in creating a culture of strengths at Evangel, specifically her involvement with researching and implementing strengths-based development in leadership programs.
“It is an honor to be recognized for doing something you love,” said Lehnert, assistant professor of organizational leadership and associate director of leadership and strength development. “The positive outcomes we have discovered from our students and faculty involved in strengths-based development include increased self-confidence, the ability to partner with others to maximize performance, and clarity for developing a career path and goals.”
More than 600 universities use strengths-based development programs, including Evangel, which has been a strengths-based campus for the past five years.
“Strengths-based development is a leadership development approach that identifies an individual’s top talents and intentionally focuses him or her toward producing greater levels of excellence and behavioral change,” Lehnert said.
Lehnert made two presentations at the conference: 1) Maximizing Strengths-Based Development: Curriculum for the Classroom, Student Leadership Programs, and Faculty & Staff Development and 2) LEAD With Your Strengths: Academic Leadership Programs and SLPI Coaching.
