Springfield, Mo — Evangel University has announced the recipients of the 2009 Founders Scholarships, the highest academic scholarships that the University awards. Two incoming freshmen will receive full-tuition scholarships, and 10 incoming freshmen will receive half-tuition scholarships.
Evangel began offering the Founders Scholarships in 2006 to students who have consistently demonstrated their commitment to Christ and to high academic achievement.
Incoming freshmen are eligible to apply for the scholarships if they have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.8 on a 4.0 scale and at least a 30 on their ACTs or a 1320 or more on their SAT 1 (critical reading and math).
As long as eligibility requirements are maintained, the scholarships are renewable up to four years. Learn more about the Founders Scholarship.
The following students will receive the 2009 Founders Scholarships:
Bailey Bollinger
Daughter of Robert and Penny Bollinger of Wildwood, Mo., attends Eureka High School and will major in communication and government.
Alyssa Dawe
Daughter of Thomas and Sharon Dawe of Broken Arrow, Okla., attends Summit Christian Academy and will major in government and pre-law.
Elizabeth Baumeister
Daughter of Steven and Corinne Baumeister of Fredonia, Wis., attends Ozaukee High School and will major in general studies.
Elsa Blair
Daughter of Kenneth and Tommie Blair of Crane, Mo., will major in nursing and pre-medicine.
Julianna Hudson
Daughter of Brett and Sharon Hudson of Doniphan, Mo., will major in general studies.
Brigette Ketron
Daughter of Keith and Nannette Ketron of Mt. Vernon, Mo., attends Mt. Vernon High School and will major in missions and nursing.
Lauren Liberty
Daughter of Paula Liberty of Lee’s Summit, Mo., attends Lee’s Summit North High School and will major in general studies.
Jacob Luecke
Son of Robert and Mary Luecke of Freeport, Ill., attends Freeport High School and will major in biblical studies.
Seth McCurley
Son of Steven McCurley of Crocker, Mo., and Leslie and Dwayne Lamkins of Conway, Mo., attends Conway High School and will major in graphic design and music.
Blake Petersen
Son of Doyle and Terri Petersen of Firth, Neb., attends Norris High School and will major in music.
Katelin Strand
Daughter of Kelvin and Donna Strand of Blooming Prairie, Minn., attends Blooming Prairie High School and will major in Spanish and mathematics.
Brittni Woods
Daughter of Steven and Tammy Woods of Franklin, Ohio, attends Franklin High School and will major in missions and pre-medicine.
