SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Donna Washburn has been named department chair for the Behavioral Sciences Department at Evangel University. She officially assumed the duties of her new position on August 18, 2009.
“I am thrilled, yet humbled, as I consider the opportunity to serve the Behavioral Sciences Department and Evangel in this new role,” says Washburn. “As an alumna of the Department, it is an honor to serve in a capacity that at one time helped to shape who I am today.”
Washburn succeeds Dr. Jeffery Fulks, who is now serving as Evangel’s director of Graduate and Professional Studies.
“Donna has been a great blessing to our students in social work,” says Dr. Glenn Bernet, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college. “I know she will likewise be a special blessing as she leads the entire Behavioral Sciences Department.”
Washburn, a licensed clinical social worker, graduated from Evangel in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She earned her master’s degree in social work from Missouri State University.
Washburn joined Evangel’s social work faculty in 2001. In addition to teaching upper-level social work courses, she has served as field coordinator for the Social Work Program and as coordinator of the evening Human Services Program.
