SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Trumpeter Jason Dovel will be performing in Evangel University’s first Artist Series of the semester on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m., in the Barnett Fine Arts Recital Hall.
There is no charge for admission, and the public is invited to attend.
Selections such as “Mont Saint-Michel” by Geoffrey Robbins and the Alexander Arutunian Trumpet Concerto will be included on the program, and Tim Wootton, adjunct trumpet faculty, will be joining Dovel for a jazz number.
Dr. Linda Ligate, professor of music, will provide piano accompaniment.
Also on Thursday, a master class will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Band Rehearsal Hall, and will feature Evangel trumpet students.

Dr. Jason Dovel is an active recitalist, educator, and orchestral musician throughout the United States. He is a versatile performer on modern and period instruments.
He obtained his bachelor’s degree in music education with a minor in jazz studies from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. Upon graduation from James Madison, he completed a master’s degree in trumpet performance at the College of Musical Arts of Bowling Green State University.
Dovel then completed the Doctor of Musical Arts in trumpet performance at the University of North Texas, and later taught there as a teaching fellow. He also taught at North Central Texas College as an adjunct faculty member.
He is currently working as an assistant professor of music at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla., where his teaching responsibilities include trumpet lessons, trumpet ensemble, brass methods, and instrumental pedagogy.
