Carmelita Guse to perform Evangel’s Homecoming Alumni Recital

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Soprano Carmelita Guse will be the featured artist for Evangel University’s Homecoming Alumni Recital. The recital will take place Thursday, Oct. 8, at 8:30 p.m., in the Barnett Fine Arts Recital Hall. 

The performance is free and open to the public.

Piano accompaniment will be provided by Dr. Linda Ligate, professor of music.

“We are excited that Carmelita will be performing for this year’s Alumni Recital,” says Dr. Michael Kolstad, chairman of the Music Department. “Carmelita and I have been discussing and planning this event for over a year. Her program will be very exciting.”

Background on artist
Carmelita (Severin) Guse, a 1989 graduate of Evangel, has appeared in professional productions including such roles as Manuelita in “La Perichole” and as Ruth Putnam in “The Crucible.”

Guse, a sought-after guest soloist, performed for the opening session of the 2008 National Association of Negro Musicians National Convention.
