SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Cori (Holsinger) Hartje will be presented the 2009 Evangel University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award on Friday, Oct. 9, during homecoming chapel service.
Hartje, a 1979 graduate of Evangel, is senior director of the Microsoft Genuine Software Initiative in Redmond, Wash. She oversees Microsoft’s international anti-piracy efforts and product group integration programs focused toward preventing counterfeit and other forms of software piracy.
Prior to her current role, Hartje was a key member in Microsoft’s Worldwide Licensing and Pricing organization, where she handled marketing and analyst relations. She has also served as a regional sales manager and as an educational consultant for universities and colleges who wished to improve their computer educational programs.
For six years, prior to working with Microsoft, Hartje worked in educational technology at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
Hartje graduated summa cum laude from Evangel in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in social sciences and elementary education. She was named the Most Promising Graduate in Education, and at 20 years of age became a teacher in the Springfield (Mo.) Public Schools, where she taught for four years.
From the moment she began teaching, she became interested in implementing technology in the education program and began taking courses to develop her skills.
She went on to receive her Master of Arts from Washington University at St. Louis, and has completed significant doctoral work at Nova Florida Southeastern University.
In 1999, Evangel presented Hartje with the Regius Award, established to honor Social Sciences alumni who have demonstrated outstanding qualities in both professional accomplishment and who have also shown interest in and support for the purposes and values of the social sciences.
Hartje is the daughter of Dr. J. Calvin and Adena Holsinger. Dr. Holsinger, professor emeritus, is a former faculty member and chair of the Social Sciences Department at Evangel. Adena is a longtime member and former president of the Ladies Auxiliary at Evangel. Both are active supporters of the university.
Hartje and her husband, Lacey, have two sons: Ryan, a 2009 graduate of Evangel; and Kent, 13.
