SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The annual meeting of the Greater Springfield Professors of Bible convened at Evangel University on Thursday, Oct. 1.
“This is an annual event to which everyone involved looks forward,” says W.E. Nunnally, Evangel professor of Early Judaism and Christian Origins. “We enjoy the opportunity it affords to renew and deepen friendships with colleagues from other institutions, hear what’s new in the field of Biblical Studies, showcase our own work and get feedback, and watch our students present their work publically for the first time.”
Participants came from Missouri State University, Central Bible College, the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Southwest Baptist University, College of the Ozarks, and Evangel University.
Numerous papers were presented on topics relating to the study of the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, and biblical archaeology.
William Griffin, coordinator of the event and associate professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Evangel, showcased some of the elements of his forthcoming volume for the study of first-year Hebrew grammar in a paper titled “Breaking Old Paradigms: Further Reflections on Hebrew Pedagogy.”
Others who presented papers are as follows:
