Springfield, Mo — Rachel Cancino-Singer is recipient of the 2009 Emerson scholarship in the amount of $750.
She is the daughter of Claude Singer and Isabel Cancino-Garmen, both of Phoenix, Ariz., and is a 2007 graduate of Washington High School in Phoenix.
Cancino-Singer is a junior at Evangel University with a major in elementary education and a concentration in intercultural studies. Her desire is to teach overseas after her graduation.
Emerson is underwriting the scholarship through a generous donation made to Missouri Colleges Fund, which provides funds for each of the 16 MCF member schools to award scholarships to outstanding students.
