Springfield, Mo — In today’s marketplace, many employers are looking for workers who know how to communicate using the latest technology, as well as with traditional and new media. In-demand employees are those with strong writing and editing skills for developing business projects, proposals, reports and Web content.
Evangel University has revised and fine-tuned its adult Professional Studies Program in communication, and now offers a bachelor’s degree in Professional Communication.
“Our Professional Communication major is designed for those interested in using their skills in fields such as business, government, health care, military and not-for-profit organizations,” said Nancy Pace-Miller, program coordinator. “Our grads are qualified to work in traditional media as well as in corporate communication.”
The Professional Studies Program at Evangel is an accelerated degree completion program, designed for working professionals who have more than 60 college credits and need to complete a degree.
Evangel also offers an accelerated Associate of Arts program for those wishing to enroll with less than 60 college credits.
Applications are available online, or by calling (417) 865-2811 ext. 7229.
Students in these programs are assigned to a cohort of approximately 15-20 students with the same major, and they progress through courses together. Courses meet four hours per week, and each course lasts for five weeks.
According to Pace-Miller, “This requires students to commit to approximately 10-15 hours per week of reading, studying, research and writing.
“In-class lecturing is kept to a minimum, as learners interact with one another, discussing assigned readings and application of text theories to real-world situations,” she added.
Evangel currently offers adult Professional Studies comprehensive majors in three areas:
