Springfield, Mo — Evangel University has installed new technology, which will allow for the Webcast of lectures and multimedia presentations.
Powered by MediaSite, Classroom Capture can be used to record every aspect of presentations in a classroom or small studio, and then be made available to Web users worldwide.
“We are excited about the variety of uses this technology provides for our students to access the uniqueness of an Evangel education wherever they are,” says Dr. Bryan Sanders, professor of legal studies and government, who also serves as chairman of Evangel’s Educational Technology Committee.
“Rather than just reading lecture notes, distance students can view the actual class lectures, demonstrations and discussions,” he added. “Coupled with our ANGEL Learning Management System for online classes, students truly will be able to have Evangel where they are.”
Evangel expects the Classroom Capture system to improve student learning, as users will be able to replay classroom lectures as many times as needed to help in grasping difficult material. “This is one more way we can help our students reach their educational goals,” Sanders says.
The new system will be an option for classes, including Evangel’s popular Graduate and Professional Studies programs. It will also serve as a way to capture and preserve presentations and campus events for the future.
“The technology will allow the university to increase enrollment without adding physical classrooms, and it will provide students with more online options,” says Jeff Burnett, director of admissions.
Faculty and staff are being trained on the system throughout December.
