Professor Bernie Dana re-elected to National Quality Award Board of Overseers

Springfield, Mo — Bernie Dana, associate professor of business at Evangel University, was recently elected to a second three-year term on the Board of Overseers for the National Quality Award Program sponsored by the American Health Care Association.

Dana was also re-elected to chair the 10-member Board of Overseers during 2010. He has chaired the Board for the past three years.

The Board of Overseers provides oversight, policy, criteria, and the judging process for the quality award program, which is modeled after the Baldrige National Quality Award program. More than 1,000 nursing and assisted living facilities from across the nation are expected to apply for one of three different levels of quality awards in 2010.

Dana will also be co-presenting a seminar at AHCA’s 2nd Annual National Quality Symposium, which will be held Feb. 9 and 10 in Baltimore, MD. His program is titled, “Creating Effective Quality Improvement Teams.”

The American Health Care Association represents nearly 11,000 nonprofit and proprietary skilled nursing and assisted living organizations throughout the United States.

Dana is nationally recognized for his expertise in the areas of leadership and quality improvement in long-term care. He was an executive and consultant in the long-term care profession for 28 years before joining the Evangel faculty in 2001.
