Springfield, Mo. — Evangel University Campus Pastor John F. Plake announced, Jan. 25, that a total of $8,765.96 was raised for the Convoy of Hope relief efforts in Haiti.
In addition to the checks and cash received during a special chapel service last Thursday, Jan. 21, numerous donations were made online throughout the weekend.
“We are thankful for the generosity of our faculty, staff and students,” Plake said. “Many of them gave in the face of their own needs, just as Christians have through the centuries.”
For only about 40¢, Convoy of Hope can provide a meal for a displaced Haitian, due to the fact that their partnerships allow them to turn every $1 donated into $7 of aid delivered. Convoy of Hope can use a $4 gift to feed a victim of the earthquake for 10 days. A gift of $40 can feed three people for a month.
