Synopsis

In Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Mikado,” Nanki-Poo, son of the Emperor, has fled the imperial court in disguise to escape an arranged marriage to Katisha, his father’s choice as his bride. He meets the ravishing Yum-Yum, and they fall in love.

The two desperately wish to wed, but obstacles are cast by Yum-Yum’s guardian, Ko-Ko, who is the Lord High Executioner. Ko-Ko is also in love with Yum-Yum and has every intention of marrying her himself. True love eventually conquers all, sometimes in the most surprising ways.
