Springfield, Mo — Evangel University’s Missouri Rho chapter of Alpha Chi, a national academic honor society, will be recognized with a Star Chapter Award during the 2010 Super-Regional Convention in Little Rock, Ark., March 25-27.
“To merit the Star Chapter Award, six criteria must be met,” said Dr. Laynah Rogers, co-sponsor of Evangel’s Alpha Chi chapter. “Our Missouri Rho chapter has qualified for the award nine of the last ten years.”
As stated on the Alpha Chi Web site, any chapter may receive Star Chapter status by meeting each of the following criteria:
Thirty-five Alpha Chi chapters nationwide qualified to receive 2008-09 Star Chapter Awards.
Evangel’s Missouri Rho chapter was also awarded Alpha Chi’s highest national chapter award, The President’s Cup, this past year during the National Alpha Chi Convention.
The 2010 officers of Evangel’s Missouri Rho chapter are as follows:
Dr. Laynah Rogers is founding sponsor of the Missouri Rho Alpha Chi chapter. Dr. Dale Scheusner is co-sponsor.
Alpha Chi, founded in 1922, is a national honor society in which membership is limited to the top 10 percent of juniors, seniors and graduate students. Evangel members must have at least a 3.83 grade point average, on the 4.0 scale, to be eligible.
Alpha Chi has more than 300 chapters nationwide. The objectives of the society are to promote and to recognize scholarship and those elements of character that make scholarship effective for service.
