Springfield, Mo — The halls at Evangel University will be alive with the sound of music on Saturday, March 6, when the university will be hosting the 2010 Southern Missouri Fine Arts Festival of the Assemblies of God.

Approximately 1,200 middle-school and high-school-aged students are expected to compete in divisions such as Art, Communication, Short Sermon, Drama, Instrumental, Vocal, and Writing.

“We are excited to host such talented young people from throughout Southern Missouri,” said Dr. Michael Kolstad, Music Department chair at Evangel. “It is our honor to partner with the Southern Missouri District on this outstanding event.”

Each participant that receives a “superior with invitation” at the district level is invited to compete at the National Fine Arts Festival, which will be held in Detroit, Mich., this summer.

The National Fine Arts Festival, a division of National Youth Ministries of the Assemblies of God, is designed to aid students in the discovery, development and deployment of their talents.
