How can I obtain a vaccination?

September 8, 2009

The best way to protect yourself from flu viruses is to be vaccinated. EU Health Services will be offering vaccines for both regular seasonal influenza and H1N1 flu. We do not want you to become ill with either the seasonal flu or H1N1 flu. We recommend that you receive vaccinations for both types of the flu.

Seasonal Flu Vaccine

Cost: $15 for one adult dose. Normally we do not start giving seasonal flu vaccines until mid-October. But this year the CDC has recommended that we start giving these vaccines as soon as we receive them. The vaccines are in the process of being shipped to us now. As soon as we receive them, we will make an announcement and give instructions on how you can receive a vaccine.

H1N1 Vaccine

Cost: FREE. Two doses, three-to-four weeks apart. This vaccine is currently being produced and tested by the FDA. We expect that it will be available by the end of October. This new vaccine for H1N1 flu was paid for and belongs to the government. It will be distributed to local health departments who will then divide it among hospitals, clinics and medical offices. Because we do not have to purchase this vaccine from the manufacturer, we are able to provide it to you at no charge. When we receive this vaccine, we will make an announcement to let you know it is available.
