Work Study

Thank you for your interest in the Federal Work-Study program as an opportunity to aid in your educational expenditures.

Eligibility must be established by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.FAFSA.ed.gov. The awarding of Federal Work-Study does not guarantee employment; it simply establishes eligibility. The work-study program is a first come, first serve program where students select a job of interest. Employment is based upon the openings that are available. This award indicates the need for work-study; however, it does not in any manner guarantee a job. Successful campus-based employment will depend on the student. To determine if you are eligible to participate in the work-study program, see 'My Financial Aid' for a list of your Financial Aid awards. Please have your social security number and Evangel PIN available for log-in.

Job opportunities within this program include employment on-campus as well as community service off-campus. Students must find and interview for the job of their choice by contacting the representatives of departments with openings. Students work an average of eight hours per week. (Students are not allowed to work more than one work study job at a time.)

Prior to working, students must have their direct supervisor submit a work-study contract electronically to the work-study coordinator in the Financial Aid Office. Students must also complete their employment paperwork in the HR office in Riggs Hall (309E). Failure to complete this step could delay payment.

W-4 completion: Please download the W-4 tax form at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf and submit to Evangel University’s payroll office.

Jobs begin the first day of classes each semester. Please be punctual. Most departments will designate hours around class schedules. If extra time is needed to study for a test, contact your supervisor so that he/she can arrange for lost hours to be made up. Always be courteous by letting your supervisor know when you are sick or unable to come to work for any reason.

Payment, participants are paid the federally established minimum wage and may choose to have their work-study earnings automatically deposited to a Bank Account by completing a Direct Deposit Form or automatically deposited to their student account by completing the Voluntary Deduction Form. To review work-study job availabilities, please select open positions.

The Federal Work-Study program is a great opportunity to show your responsibility. Because of this, you must consider your Work-Study position a profitable learning experience that prepares you for the future. In fact, the Financial Aid Office occasionally receives calls from prospective employers concerning students’ job evaluations while they were employed as a work-study student. Consequently, your work experience and performance as a Federal Work-Study student can be influential on your future.

Should you have any questions concerning this information, please contact the work-study coordinator, Aaron Joifrita, in the Student Financial Services office at 417-865-2815, extension 7422.
