Campus Life
No one can fully describe Evangel life — it's something you have to experience. Imagine living 24 hours a day in a community
of young Christians from all over the country and around the globe. Life centers around
campus — residence halls, the “Caf,” the fitness center, the
student union, sports and countless spontaneous events. You won't want to miss a minute.

Life at Evangel gives you the opportunity to join, lead, create, collaborate — building an experience uniquely catered to your interests.
Evangel is committed to help you find your place in God's plan. You'll be challenged to acquire an understanding of the Scriptures, theology, and missions and living a Spirit-filled life.
- Chapel. Chapel is offered three times per week with student-led worship teams and various featured events and guest speakers.
- Alternate Chapel. Special services sponsored by academic departments or campus groups ensure students have ample opportunity to meet chapel attendance requirements.
- Local Churches. Dozens of local churches are in the area. You can find one to suit your worship style and where you can use your talents to get involved.
- Spiritual Emphasis Week. Spiritual Emphasis Week is a focused time of prayer, worship, and seeking God's will, held at the beginning of each semester. You can start the semester off right during this time of reflection and renewal.
- CROSSwalk Student Ministries. Become a ministry leader or team member through the many service and ministry opportunities available through CROSSwalk Student Ministries.
- Service Trips. Evangel offers multiple opportunities to serve across the nation and around the world. LifeWorks — The Center for Leadership and Life Calling at Evangel University — often provides funding to support many of these opportunities for global impact.
- Prayer Groups. Students on campus support one another through prayer ministry in residence halls and around campus. The Wellness Center also sponsors accountability groups for both men and women.
Tradition
Students engage in traditions that are staples of the Evangel experience. With each new freshman class, students adopt the unique campus culture and make it a part of their own story. Campus traditions enable students to express themselves through creative interests or just doing something to break up the regular routine.
- HarvestFest. HarvestFest is a student-produced variety show sponsored by Activities Board each fall; this event has a theme, and students are invited to wear costumes — though it’s not required. One HarvestFest tradition is for men to think of a creative way to ask for a date, but the twist is that a simple “yes” is not enough for the women. Women are also expected to come up with a creative reply to the creative request. But Harvestfest is not an event exclusively for couples. Most people who attend HarvestFest go with floormates and friends.
- Homecoming & Spirit Week. Homecoming is a time when alumni and friends descend on campus for a weekend of special events, but students are also in the midst of all the action. The week is full of contests, competition, karaoke, classroom visits from alumni, special chapel services, and much more. Students often decorate cars and caravan to the football field to support the team on game day. At halftime, the Homecoming king and queen are crowned.
- Spring Fling. Spring Fling is essentially the spring semester's version of HarvestFest. But this time the tables are turned. Women ask the men with a creative scheme, and men are also expected to reply in a creative way. Between the performers in the show and people asking their date in a clever way, creativity abounds.
- Mr. EU. Mr. EU is a twist on the traditional pageant competition. Men around campus compete by showcasing talents such as stand-up comedy, musical performances, or choreographed routines.
- Fashion Fever. Fashion Fever is a highly anticipated annual women's-only fashion show. This event brings together women across campus and reinforces having a positive self-image.
- Brother/Sister Floor Activities. Men’s and women’s floors agree to be "brothers and sisters," hanging out on campus, playing video games on open-hall nights, going bowling, mini-golfing, or other planned activities around town.
- Banquets. Students attend annual banquets such as the murder mystery dinner.

Indoor intramural sports competitions are held in the Mabee Center.Find a time that works best for your schedule.

Diversity
Evangel has a heritage of equality and integration. In December 1954, Evangel University made headlines when leaders announced that the university would welcome students of any race, denomination, or political affiliation upon opening in 1955. Today, Evangel continues the proud tradition as a leader of diversity in the Springfield community.
Experiencing a campus culture that promotes diversity prepares you to have global impact.
