Evangel Student Profile

StephenStephen

Stephen didn’t plan to come to Evangel, but he wanted to attend a university where he could pursue business and ministry.

Class of 2011
Hometown: Lincoln, Missouri
Major: Biblical Studies and Management

Why did you choose EU?

I chose to come to Evangel, because it allowed me to grow spiritually and further my pursuit of God in the Theology Department while still getting a degree in business. In high school, I was active in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). I enjoy business, yet I felt the call of God on my life for full-time ministry. So I wanted to come to a college where I could gain both.

What is your ministry calling?

I feel like God is calling me to full-time evangelism all over the world, not just America. The Lord spoke to me and dropped in my spirit that He wanted me to preach in every single country—physically in every country. And that’s a big goal. Dream big to go big. In many closed countries, you cannot get in as an evangelist. Having business, I can go in places where I wouldn’t be allowed to go.

Did you visit campus?

I had received brochures in the mail. Then, I looked online. My best friend in high school, Kirstie, decided to come here, and she told me I should really look into it. The first time I came was for pre-registration days in June.

Which residence hall do you live in?

Lewis Hall

Do you receive any financial aid?

Federal Pell Grant and academic scholarships

What is your favorite thing about EU?

My favorite thing is having everybody—basically any friend I need to talk to—within a two minutes’ walk.

What is the best thing about being a student at EU?

I think the best thing is that you’re here with people who care about your spiritual well-being as well as your progressing in society. They want you to be well informed and well rounded.

What do you think of EU professors?

After being in public school my whole life, I like how teachers pray before my tests. All the professors really do care. When they say they care about you, they really do care about your progress and how you’re doing in their classes.

Are you involved in any campus ministries?

I’m a floor devotion leader (DL). We hold weekly devotions, 15 to 20 minute Bible studies on one to two passages. If anyone needs someone to talk to, I’m there. I’m also on the all-hall praise and worship team in Lewis Hall.
