Evangel Student Profile

Over Spring Break, a seven-member team traveled to Greece. Ashley Higgins, one of two student leaders on the trip, shares her reflections about the experience.

“The trip to Greece was nothing short of incredible,” she says.

The team worked with Krystal Harrison, a missionary, and met Greek University students in hopes of connecting with them — building relationships that will enable missions work.

“We met students that Krystal already knows and had very good conversations with them,” Ashley says. “We also met new students and got to know them, introducing them to Krystal so that she can continue to minister to them.”

In a country like Greece, where there are only about 2,000 evangelical believers, talking with students who are receptive to the message of God is no small feat.

“The Lord really opened up a lot of doors while we were in Greece as far as conversations about faith go,” she says. “A few students are very close to salvation, and we are hoping that through God's favor and Krystal's work, along with our keeping in touch with them, they will come to know the truth soon.”

In addition to building relational ministry, the team visited historic landmarks, including the scenes of many passages in the New Testament.

"We took a trip to the Acropolis and the Olympic stadiums,” Ashley says. “Our free day was spent at Ancient Corinth, seeing all of the places where Paul spoke. It was an incredible day.”

Looking back, Ashley is thankful for the success of this experience.

“There was so much favor over the entire trip from the relational doors that God opened all the way down to the weather,” she says. “It was an amazing, life-changing 10 days.”

Ashley sees this experience as much more than a one-time trip.

“Personally, I cannot wait to go back. The Lord really did a work in my heart and burdened it for the souls in Greece. I feel like He imparted a small part of Himself to me as a result of this experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat,” she says. “I am already looking forward to the day when I can return to Greece!”
