As an MK (missionary kid) who grew up in Eastern Europe, Taylor wanted to attend college in the United States. She first tried a community college, but then decided that Evangel University would be the best choice for her. As an Evangel student, Taylor has built a strong bond with other MKs from around the world who have also chosen Evangel.

Why did you choose Evangel?

I chose Evangel because I felt like it could help me not only in my academic life, but also in my spiritual life.

Describe the bond that exists among MKs at Evangel?

It is interesting to come to a college where there are more than 50 MKs who know and understand what you have been through and what you have experienced. I feel because of that we tend to bond more quickly and that our bond is fairly strong.

How do you handle homesickness?

I love that we all have Skype and can chat back and forth every once in a while. That makes it nice.

Have you gotten involved in any campus or community activities?

I am the vice president of my floor (Spence 2nd North girls are the best!!). I am on our powderpuff football team. I have also gotten involved in a small group at North Point Church.

Were you able to visit Evangel before enrolling?

Yes, but it was in the summer when there were not any classes or students on campus. My word of advice: I would definitely come visit when classes are in session if you are interested in coming to EU, that way you get to see how awesome EU really is. There are so many amazing people here!

What’s your take on EU professors?

This is my first semester here at EU but already I can tell the professors care. They will help you in whatever you need help in to the best of your abilities. They are here for their students and it is so amazing to see that in professors. Some of my community college professors definitely did not give their students the time of day.

What are your personal and career goals for the future? Do you plan to move back overseas after you graduate from EU?

I am still trying to figure out what God has planned for my future, but as of now I am hoping to get a job with a non-profit organization, the government, or something to that extent. I do hope to travel and maybe even live overseas again, though.

And finally, what does it mean to you to follow God’s calling on your life?

It means a great deal to me! I am still searching and praying that God will reveal His calling on my life to me, but I do know that he has brought me to EU for a reason.
