The first time Matthew stepped foot on the Evangel University campus was the day he moved into the residence halls. Though he was not able to visit campus during his application process, he found Evangel was the university for him by researching Evangel’s online virtual tour, student and faculty profiles, and academic pages. Matthew desires to be a teacher while pursuing God’s call of service, hoping one day to embark in full-time pastoral ministry. He knows that Evangel offers everything he needs to pursue these goals, and is now working hard to make his life-goals a reality.
I chose Evangel because I want to become a pastor and thought a Christian college education would better suit me than a secular one.
I did not visit Evangel before coming, but I did research the Web site very well.
Yes, I received financial aid.
I chose Special Education because I really want to be in a profession where I could help people, receive a decent income and be able to have enough time off work to care for the large family I want to have. I chose to have my minor in Biblical Studies because I believe God has called me to become a pastor.
Some of the benefits of attending a smaller university are being able to fellowship more frequently, having less travel time to and from class, and getting to know and be discipled by the professors. Plus, you get to build relationships with more people than at a larger university.
I like the Christian atmosphere best at Evangel, which is much different than my last school.
Evangel’s Special Education program is preparing me with a biblical foundation to become a caring, committed, competent teacher who will shape the lives of children’s future.
I have been in a practicum for special education, have been invited to work at a special-ed camp for the summer, and have been able to feed the poor and homeless twice this academic year.
I plan to teach special education in the St. Louis inner-city area while attending seminary (also in St. Louis).
Evangel has a good Christian atmosphere, lots of fun and friends, and valuable instruction from professors.
