Your Personal Web Space

As a student of Evangel, you have your own personal web space where you can create your own site or offer files to others. Your web space is located on your U drive in the folder called "Web." Anything you place in the "Web" folder is instantly available to the world via the Web.

You can access your U drive by logging onto a lab computer.

The web address to your personal space is http://www.evangel.edu/StudentSpace/username/Web. Where username is your same username you use to logon to lab computers and is the same as your Evangel email address.

To the right is an example file tree. As you can see, there is a file called "index.htm" in the "Web" folder. Calling your file "index.htm" makes that file the home page for the folder it is in. This allows you to simply type http://www.evangel.edu/StudentSpace/username/Web and your index.htm displays automatically. You do not have to type out the full address of http://www.evangel.edu/StudentSpace/username/Web/index.htm.

Continuing the home page example, if I want to go to the SpringBreak home page, all I type is http://www.evangel.edu/StudentSpace/username/Web/SpringBreak.

If I want to go directly to photo02.jpg. The address I would use is http://www.evangel.edu/StudentSpace/username/Web/SpringBreak/photo02.jpg.
