Local Churches
Welcome to Evangel University!
In the Middle East, the Jordan River flows south from its headwaters, giving life to the land and the people who live there. At its southern terminus, the river is gathered into the Dead Sea where its stagnant waters evaporate because it has no outlet. God intends for each of us to be like the river, giving life to those around us. To that end, he has placed us in local churches.
As you settle in to your campus routine, let me encourage each of you to make choosing a home church a priority. While Evangel is a Christian community, it is no substitute for the local church.
Many area churches have ministries focusing on university students, and they provide a place for you to connect with fellow Christ followers from different generations and varied backgrounds. At church you can strengthen your walk with God, build Christ honoring relationships, and serve others with your gifts.
