Homeschool Students

Evangel University welcomes applications from homeschooled students! We understand that as a homeschooled student, you have unique questions and needs different from those who attend a traditional public or private high school.

The transition from homeschooling to college can be intimidating. But have no fear – Evangel has a long history of homeschooled students who are successful both educationally and within the culture of campus life.

Our small class sizes (average class size is 25), challenging academic programs, and personal attention from faculty and staff are conducive to continuing the focused education to which a homeschooled student is accustomed. Our goal is to make your college transition as seamless as possible and provide an atmosphere where you feel comfortable learning and preparing for your future.

Common Questions

Who should fill out my academic reference?
Since references cannot be filled out by family members, we suggest using an outside tutor that you might have, a teacher from which you take extracurricular lessons (music lessons, for example), a college professor (if you are also taking college classes while in high school), or another instructor that would be familiar with your academic potential.

How do I create my high school transcript and determine my GPA?
The Home School Official Transcript (pdf) sheet is a guide to help your family organize your high school transcript and find your GPA. Just e-mail the finished form to your admissions counselor and we’ll file it for you!

Do I need to take the GED?
No, the eventual completion of your state’s homeschool graduation requirements are all you need for acceptance to EU.

Do I need to take the ACT or SAT?
Yes, every student needs to submit either an ACT or SAT score. These tests help determine class placement and scholarship opportunities for our students.
