Harnessing the practical application and still-expanding boundaries of the information age we live in is the task of Evangel’s Communication department.
Armed with some of the best facilities and technology available, Communication faculty members train students to execute cutting-edge techniques in a variety of ways. Then, students are turned loose for practical application.
Students study video, audio and film production, journalism, public relations, advertising, public speaking, multimedia design and much more — all applied through methods of electronic media, print and oral communication.
In addition to on-campus learning, the department is frequently contacted by outside businesses and media that specifically seek students for internships and jobs after graduation.
Adult Studies students may also pursue a degree in Professional Communication, which equips working adults for a variety of advancement opportunities or new career paths.
Students in Communication programs gain marketable skills and compile an impressive portfolio to display their skills when entering the workplace.
Crusadermedia.com is a website that is programmed, written and designed by students and features all aspects of student media and campus life, as well as the award-winning The Lance newspaper and Excalibur yearbook.
Aspiring broadcasters will want to check out ECTV and KECC radio. Students interested in film production can look at EU Films, a student organization that produces feature-length films. Evangel also has Debate and Forensics teams for students interested in competing in speech, drama and oral interpretation.
Through these outlets, students gain real-world experience on state-of-the-art equipment to supplement their classroom training. Contact the department to find out more about the programs, along with the commitment to integrating a Christian worldview for the influence you will have in the communication field.
