Department of Education — 2015 graduation awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University Department of Education has announced its graduation awards for 2015.

The awards were given during the baccalaureate service on Thursday, April 30, in the Robert H. Spence Chapel auditorium.

The following awards were presented:

Outstanding Graduate in Early Childhood Education — Katelyn Schmitt from Springfield, Ill.

Academic Excellence in Early Childhood Education — Savannah Strain from Springfield, Mo.

Outstanding Graduate in Elementary Education — Emily Akins from Springfield, Mo.

Academic Excellence in Elementary Education — Morgan Zevallos from Mansfield, Texas

Outstanding Graduate in Special Education — Rebecca Devenny from Cherry Hill, N.J.

Academic Excellence in Special Education — Alexandria Barron from Springfield, Mo.

Cori Holsinger-Hartje Award — Emily Akins

A total of 514 degrees were conferred at the 57th annual Commencement Ceremony for Evangel University on Friday, May 1, 2015. This includes 403 bachelor’s degrees, 73 master’s degrees and 38 associate’s degrees, 33 of which are from EU’s James River Leadership Campus.

In addition, the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary at Evangel conferred 77 degrees during its ceremony on Saturday morning, May 2. Of those, 21 were Ph.Ds. and other doctoral degrees.
